Bill Oberst Jr. To Tour Horror Conventions
with Ray Bradbury Performance

 St. John's, Newfoundland - December 13th, 2015

Actor Bill Oberst Jr. is starting a live performance tour of horror, sci-fi and comic conventions with his award-winning Ray Bradbury solo show, Ray Bradbury's Pillar of Fire. Oberst's theatrical reading of Bradbury's creepy tale debuted to sold-out houses in LA last summer and it is already touring colleges. The actor says he was driven to take the show to conventions by his passion for classic horror literature. "The roots of the genre are in gothic literature," he says, "this is something different than the usual sit-behind-a-table convention drill, but Vincent Price toured with live performances of Poe and brought them to new generations of fans. I'd like to do the same with Ray Bradbury."

Mr. Oberst also says "Pillar of Fire is the original zombie story; the hero is a walking dead man who hates the living. It's also the most eloquent defense of Halloween and horror ever written."When Mr. Bradbury published the tale in 1948, Americans were burning horror comics like Tales from the Crypt on the advice of a popular psychologist, who said they corrupted the morals of youth. Mr. Bradbury's story is set in a world where dark literature and human burials are banned; a society cleansed of fear. Mr. Oberst's performance of the piece at the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival in Los Angeles, directed by Ezra Buzzington, won rave reviews from critics and an Ernest Kearney Platinum Medal.

Ray Bradbury'sPillar of Fire was just announced as part of the schedule for Avalon Expo 2016 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. Bill Oberst Jr encourages conventions that have an interest in this performance to get in touch with him. "I can guarantee you that anyone who loves classic horror will love this show," he says "not because of me - because of Ray Bradbury. I'm just the messenger."

MUST CONTINUE TO PAINT and CREATE FILM & MUSIC!

HELP HER REACH HER MILESTONE GOALS
AND CONTINUE TO CREATE!

    February 2nd, 2016 - DIABOLIQUE  News Break!
IMPORTANT message from Brandy Noir:I am a visual artist, actress, singer, model, makeup artist, SPFX artist, and cosmetics formulator. Painting, music, sewing, performance art, acting, photography, and design have always been a major part of my life. I was greatly inspired by my great uncle, the much beloved multi-talented vaudevillian and famed comedian Jimmy Durante. Before I ever stepped foot in front of a camera, I was a traditional artist with humble beginnings as an art college dropout and a nerdy tinkerer pulling apart computers and rebuilding them with better parts.

Despite my art teachers attempts to sway me from what I truly loved, it never stopped me from daring to dream and taking risks. I sought out those who would teach me the things that intrigued me the most and absorbed their teachings like a sponge. By doing these short term apprenticeships, I have learned more than I ever possibly could in any school. Because of my hands on experience in a vast array of artistic ventures, I am well versed in a multitude of creative undertakings and am always up for the next challenge that awaits me.

Brandy says... "Listen to a snippet off my upcoming album and support me on Patreon here so I can get this album officially released!"

   BRANDY NOIR'S LIFELONG DREAM

"Help me complete the recording and final release my album. Studio time is costly, but I will be able to complete and release my much anticipated album only with your help. Become a patronhere"
____________________________

As far as modeling and photography goes, I am very passionate about working on both sides of the camera and have experienced much fulfillment in my career by having such multifaceted capabilities. My short time in college theater and extensive studies of film noir lighting and storytelling through self-portraiture has afforded me great self-awareness and depth of knowledge for being in front of and behind the camera, intuitively knowing exactly what mood it desires. Needless to say, this has all been an exciting journey thus far, and I am eager to see what direction the next shaky step into the beautiful unknown takes me.

Quote from Brandy..."My vocals over a stop motion animation collaboration between Thomas Kuntz and myself during the making for his automaton for Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak. Please support me on Patreon here so I can get my album released!"

My latest project was costuming for Mr. Thomas Kuntz's automaton featured in Guillermo del Toro's hit film, "Crimson Peak." I am currently producing an album with the ultra talented Paul Mauled, bassist for "The Undead" (former Misfits Bobby Steele's awesome band) and that is where you come in.

Though I suffer from an incurable autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's thyroiditis and debilitating spinal injuries, I still press on. Nothing is going to stop me from living out my dreams, not even intimidating piles of medical bills. Being creative is my reason for being, it is my lifeblood and what keeps me going despite my illness. Please help me to continue to create. Releasing an album has been a lifetime dream for me that has not yet been realized, but with your help, we can make it happen together. Your love and support means the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my aching heart.

THE FIRST HORROR COLLECTION
FROM FEMALE CENOBITE AND AUTHOR BARBIE WILDE

Damaged people, ultraviolence, murder and explicit sex—what’s not to love about her work?” - “Bad Barbie” Featurette, Fangoria(America’s #1 Horror Magazine)

GET READY to enter the mind of Barbie Wilde, whose dark and disturbing interior world teems with the voices of... rebellious female demons, devilish witches, semen-hungry neo-vampires, raging gods and home invaders, the fiends of sleep paralysis, pint-sized store-front preachers with a whiff of sulfur, body horrors of the most grotesque kind, clandestine aliens and Zulu zombies just for starters!

These truly are the Voices of the Damned: eleven (11) short horror stories from actress Barbie Wilde (Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Death Wish 3) and dark crime-horror novelist "The Venus Complex."Fangoria dubbed Miss Wilde as “one of the finest purveyors of erotically charged horror fiction around.”

Each story is accompanied by seductive, haunting, full color artworks and illustrations created by some of the most imaginative artists in the genre: Clive Barker, Nick Percival, Steve McGinnis, Daniele Serra, Eric Gross, Tara Bush, Vincent Sammy and Ben Baldwin.

BIRMINGHAM, UK, January 7th, 2016
Short, Scary Tales Publications (SST Publications) owner, Paul Fry is delighted to announce the new publication of actress and author Barbie Wilde’s VOICES OF THE DAMNED. The book is the first collection of eleven deliciously dark and transgressive horror stories from Barbie... two of which are brand new to this collection. All the stories are accompanied by stunning artwork and illustrations from some of the most talented, award-winning artists working today. The book has spectacular cover art by the legendary Clive Barker and contains full color artwork & illustrations by Clive Barker, Nick Percival, Steve McGinnis, Eric Gross, Daniele Serra, Tara Bush, Vincent Sammy and Ben Baldwin. The book has already been published in an oversized 7 x 10 inch full color hardcover format, and in all eBook formats; with an oversized 7 x 10 inch full color trade paperback to follow later.

The "Foreword" to VOICES OF THE DAMNED was written by the former FANGORIA Editor-in-Chief and filmmaker Chris Alexander and the "Afterword" was penned by AMERICAN MARY writers and directors, the Soska Sisters.

The hardcover and deluxe premium print edition can be
pre-ordered now direct from the publisher’s web sitehere

SST Publisher Paul Fry says:“I’m really excited to be publishing Barbie Wilde’s first collection. The book really is a work of art, from Barbie’s incredible stories, which are beautifully written and laced with wickedly erotic content, to the extraordinary full color artwork and illustrations.
The 7 x 10 inch oversized format really displays the full color artwork to its very best. The artists that have very kindly agreed to work on this book really add that special touch to an already fantastic collection of short stories. I’m really honored to be able to publish everyone involved, especially Barbie, as she has her very own visceral style and unique talent for sick and twisted storytelling.”

About the Author: Barbie Wilde is best known for playing the Female Cenobite in Clive Barker’s classic British cult horror movie: HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II. Before moving to the UK, Wilde attended Syracuse University in New York State, majoring in Drama and Anthropology. She continued her education in London, studying Drama, Classical Mime and Art History, before joining Britain’s largest classical mime troupe, SILENTS.

Miss Wilde has performed in cabaret in Bangkok, Thailand; robotically danced in the Indian blockbuster, JANBAAZ; was a vicious thug in Michael Winner’s DEATH WISH 3; and played a drummer in the so-called “Holy Grail of unfinished and unreleased 1980’s horror:” GRIZZLY II: THE CONCERT, which also featured then unknowns George Clooney, Laura Dern and Charlie Sheen.

In the early 1980s, Barbie Wilde danced professionally at the top nightclubs and rock venues of New York, London and Amsterdam with her group called SHOCK. They released two singles on RCA Records and supported such artists as Gary Numan, Ultravox, Depeche Mode and Adam and the Ants.

Wilde wrote and presented eight music and film review TV programs in the 1980s and 1990s, interviewing such pop personalities as Iggy Pop, The Sisters of Mercy, The B-52s and Johnny Rotten, as well as actors Nicolas Cage and Hugh Grant. Wilde was also a Casting Director for the BBC’s THE BUDDHA OF SUBURBIA and for MTV’s THE REAL WORLD: LONDON.

From 2009-2015, Miss Wilde contributed short stories to 14 horror or crime anthologies and publications and in 2012, Comet Press published Wilde’s debut serial killer novel, THE VENUS COMPLEX.

NEWS UPDATE! There were two editions of Voices of the Damned published on Halloween 2015: a full color standard print hardback and a full color premium print deluxe hardback.

Publishers Weekly Starred Review

In this impressive collection of short stories, actor Wilde (who played the Female Cenobite in the film classic Hellbound: Hellraiser II) reveals a world of beautiful fear. The most delightfully terrifying entries form the Cilicium Trilogy, which reveals the complex origin and destiny of Sister Cilice. This character-focused exploration is sensual in its brutality. In “Writer's Block,” Wilde combines the psychological torture of an unknown artist with the erotic egotism of fandom to create a fascinating sexual horror.
She creates a dreadful family legacy in “Botophobia,” in which there are not merely skeletons in the closet but unworldly powers hidden in the basement. Wilde's mastery of shocking violence is given full rein in subjects ranging from reclusive self-imprisonment to the exploration of European nightmares. As much a chilling collection of frightful fiction as a delight for the darker senses, this is a satisfying triumph in a befitting, unforgiving, style. (Oct.)”

ABOUT MELISSA SUSANNE LIEGNER
Melissa is a creative figure painter whose focus is on the nude female form. Her abstract oils suggest ornately upholstered interiors where figures lay in repose or, more often, intertwine. Using distinctive pattern and unique decorative elements as anchor points amongst strokes of flesh and movement, Miss Liegner mixes elements of the pure with the profane. She draws inspiration for her interior settings from her travels, citing as favorites the modern opulence of the Burj Al-Arab, the colonial charm of Hotel Nacional de Cuba and the majesty of Beijing's Imperial Summer Palace. THE GLADDS
The Sensational NEW Horror Fiction Book From Author James Brown III. He has Already Been Heralded By Many as “The Next Stephen King”
NOW AVAILABLE

Synopsis: The Gladds were the perfect family. Their closeness is the type that every family should strive to have. With the parents being successful and the children well on their way to following suit, everything was going perfectly for them until an unfortunate tragedy befell the family leaving two siblings without their parents. Where do the siblings go from here? Especially after learning the tragedy was marred in controversy.

Quote from Author James Brown III...
“Vengeance is defined as punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong.  We all have contemplated vengeance at some point in our lives.  Someone has done us wrong somehow.  Maybe broke our hearts?  Cut us off while we were driving?  We consider ourselves civilized people.  But what if, something happened so tragic that we have no choice but to seek vengeance?  Would we be wrong?”
This is the question that you must ask yourself while reading “The Gladds.” The exciting new book from James H. Brown III.  If you love suspense, thriller, and horror, you definitely don’t want to pass this book up.  Since its release, “The Gladds” have garnered nothing but rave reviews.

About the Author

Ever since James Brown III was 5 years old, he had been awkwardly obsessed with horror movies and everything horror. James grew up watching Wes Craven, Tobe Hooper, John Carpenter, and so on putting out their best works on the big screen. It was his fascination with those movies that drove him to begin to write horror of his own in hopes that it gets to the big screen. Some people are passionate about working out or about eating healthy. James am passionate about horror movies and books. Stephen King in his estimation is the ultimate horror storyteller and it is James' hope that this book will be the start of him leaving an indelible mark on the horror genre as well!
REVIEWS FROM FANS

“I'll start by saying that I am not a reader! If I'm going to read, the book needs to catch my attention quick or I will lose interest and not continue, which is exactly what this book did! The book kept my attention so much, I read it in one afternoon because I had to know what was going to happen next! The book is definitely suspenseful and definitely keeps you wanting more! I loved and didn't love how the book ended! The reason for this is because it continues to keep you wondering and wanting more!! It definitely keeps in suspense, waiting for the second book to come it!! I would highly recommend this book if you like horror/suspense!! Can't wait to read the second book!”- Amazon Customer
“I thought this was a well written book. I am a avid reader of all types of books. This book was very suspenseful, and keep me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. The characters were believable in how they acted considering there "social standings" to themselves. If you looking for a good read I would definitely recommend this read. Enjoy.”- Betty Reed
"This book was hard to put down, I wanted to finish it all in one night! You think you know what is going to happen next and there is another crazy twist after another! I definitely recommend this book! Buy it, read it and enjoy it!"- Rachel Justice
"Amazing story that left me wanting more! The character and plot development were very detailed which made putting this book down extremely difficult. When I had to put the book down I couldn't wait to get back into and see how the story had progressed. The book as a whole was a great read and finding out that there is more to come made it even better."- Amazon Customer
"Not an avid reader and I finished it rather quickly. Great story telling by the author, I loved and hated different characters and felt invested in the story. Can't wait for part 2!"- Amazon Customer

        About SFX Master Dave Trainor

El Diablo Inc. is a commercial prop construction studio specializing in the fabrication of three-dimensional sculptures. The company was founded in the year 2000 by special-makeup-effects artist Dave Trainor, and his talent and experience (he has been involved in the industry at a senior level since 1986) are the cornerstone of the business.

We mainly produce realistic, life-size, human figures, and cater to the motion picture, museum, and commercial display industries. In addition to the experience Dave brings to the table, El Diablo Inc. draws on the talents of numerous artists with various skills to produce high-quality work. Visit Dave Trainor's websitehere

      Museum Figures - Sculpture

El Diablo Inc. creates life-size, realistic, human figures, using an underlying metal armature, based on the human skeleton. This armature allows each figure the advantage of being poseable and adaptable to a number of different positions.
The heads of the figures are painted, and cast in fiberglass, plastic polymer, or lifelike silicone. Each head includes:
      • A choice of plastic or custom resin eyes (optional & extra cost)
      • Eyelashes & eyebrows
      • Three-dimensional stubble (optional on silicone heads)
The hands are poseable when made of urethane or silicone, or can be cast into a fixed position using a hard polymer. Check out our Gallery section to view samples of previous work including Saddam Hussein, Al Capone, and Edgar J. Hoover.

      Process

Producing a realistic figure takes many years of experience and experimentation. Creating the head involves the following steps:
      1. A life-cast is taken of the subject using life-casting alginate. A plaster bust is poured from this cast (the bust is needed to sculpt open the eyes).
      2. A silicone mold is made from the bust, and “the skin” (silicone or hard-shell plastic polymer) is poured into this silicone mold.
      3. The skin is removed from the mold, and the head is painted using a combination of airbrushing, stippling and fine brush work.
      4. The hair is then applied by laying it directly on the head, or securing a lace piece on the hard surface. Hair can also be punched in one hair at a time on the silicone skin.
      5. The next step is setting the eyeballs into the head and applying a final paint touch-up.
      6. If the head is produced in silicone, it is attached to a foam covered, armatured body, supplied by a local manufacturer.
      7. The hands are then attached, but still removable for shipping.
Look-a-like heads are also available (i.e. replicas of historic figures, celebrities, etc.). In this case, the subject is sculpted out of clay using photographs, and a mold is subsequently made from this clay head.

      Manufactured in North America

All El Diablo's museum figures are fabricated with North American labour and materials. Here are just some of the many feature movies and TV series Dave Trainor has worked on: In Cold Blood (TV Movie) (1996), Blade II (2002), The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting (2003), Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010), Hell on Wheels (TV Series) (2011 -2012), Survival Code (2013), Fargo (TV Series) (2014).  Check out Dave's imdb profilehere

      Mini Biography

Dave Trainor was born in 1960 in Ontario, Canada. He began his journey as an artist very early, fed in childhood on a steady diet of Hammer Horror, Ed “Big Daddy’ Roth, and the wonders of Disneyland and the Southern California culture.
At age seven, he began sketching animals, hot rods and monsters for his classmates. He moved on in high school to creative endeavours that included painting rock tour t-shirts for ten bucks a pop and selling them to his friends, family, or anyone else who would buy one. His post-secondary years were spent at the Alberta College of Art and Design, where he was exposed to the three pivotal cultural offerings that would shape his career:
      1. Seeing the first "Alien" film, directed by Ridley Scott
      2. Seeing Rick Baker’s work in "An American Werewolf in London"
      3. Discovering “Fangoria” magazine Issue # 6

Mr. Vertlieb also appeared as a guest speaker on innumerable television and radio programs (including "Fresh Air" hosted by Terry Gross), lectured at Philadelphia's world renowned Philadelphia Art Museum, contributed to Warner Bros., specially produced documentary for their anniversary release of "King Kong" (1933) on home video, prepared, wrote, and guest hosted a nine day film festival at San Francisco's venerable Castro Theater honoring three time Oscar winning composer Miklos Rozsa, presently functions as a voting member of "The International Film Music Critics Association," appeared as a guest speaker at Chicago's Gateway Theater during their special sixtieth anniversary presentation of "King Kong," presented a posthumous "Laemmle" life achievement award to composer Bernard Herrmann via his daughter, Dorothy, on stage at a film conference in Crystal City, Virginia in 2000, and hosted an eagerly anticipated appearance by Oscar honored special effects magician Ray Harryhausen on stage in Baltimore, Maryland in 1990.

THE MAN WHO "SAVED" THE MOVIES Trailer

      STEVE VERTLIEB:
THE MAN WHO "SAVED" THE MOVIES
                      COMING FALL 2016

      Film Archivist, Historian, Journalist, Educator:
His life a living link to a Hollywood
                                                 ... most can only imagine!

The first film from Gull Cottage / Sandlot’s newly minted “Gull Cottage /  Flying Bear” banner, STEVE VERTLIEB: THE MAN WHO "SAVED" THE MOVIES is the feature-length documentary delving into the colorful life, career and ultimate legacy of cinema archivist, journalist, historian and film music educator STEVE VERTLIEB - who's quiet, unassuming persona belies his growing status as one of the most respected of figures to a new generation of cinema buffs, filmmakers, and, surprisingly, even that most fickle and verbose of filmdom's family tree -  the genre fanboy.

A former on-air TV reviewer of film and magazine publisher, Steve's learned and literate dissertations on cinema over the last near half-century have made him a much sought after consultant on numerous projects, including an appearance in the 2006 award winning documentary KREATING KARLOFF, and as consultant on TCM's 75th Anniversary Restoration of Marion Cooper's original KING KONG.  Widely considered one of the nation's foremost experts on the legendary "Great Ape", his numerous articles on the subject (including that in the still definitive volume THE GIRL IN THE HAIRY PAW) is referenced to this day by film makers, teachers and cinema students alike.

Young Steve with FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND's Forrest  J. "Uncle Forry" Ackerman and PSCYHO author / ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS screenwriter Robert Bloch.

As an archivist, Mr. Vertlieb's collection of rare movie memorabilia is to such an unrivaled degree, the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences once opened a dialog in the hopes of using parts of it for a planned film history annex.

This collection, combined with Steve's status as a film historian; along his voluminous output as a journalist / author, his engendered respect within the film music community (he considers dear friend, the late BEN-HUR, DOUBLE INDEMNITY composer MIKLOS ROZSA, a mentor), and a lifetime of personal & professional relationships with names as varied and famous as RAY BRADBURY, RAY HARRYHAUSEN, VERONICA CARLSON, JOHN WILLIAMS, BILLY WILDER, DAVID AMRAM and more (he’s truly “The BFF of the Stars“), have lately lead the aforementioned younger group of cinema buffs / filmmakers to affectionately refer to him as "Our Generation's Forrest J. Ackerman".

Upon meeting (and since becoming friends) with Mr. Vertlieb in late 2012, we were amazed (and befuddled) as to how, while known and loved for years within many aspects of the film industry community, his name was mostly unknown to the lay film aficionado.  It is this oversight we seek to redress with STEVE VERTLIEB: THE MAN WHO "SAVED" THE MOVIES.

Steve Vertlieb's life has been devoted to the preservation and remembrance of films and filmmakers whose loving influences have inspired his thoughts, his dreams, and his art.

Comments: What a great book, I loved it..... It's a good story and the book left me wanting to read more...  hopefully the author will do a series eventually. The addition of current language infused into the late 1700's is actually quite refreshing. It's very well written and a page turner. I am an avid Kindle Book enthusiast, I read a book per week easily....I need to have a book grab my attention at least by the end of the first chapter or I won't read further. Hate boring books... this book is attention grabbing from the first.

Comments: This is a brilliant story, which I enjoyed from beginning to end. First, let me say that I don't normally read fantasy/vampire books. I find them dark and gory, which this one is as well, but it has an edge to it that kept me hooked, mostly because the author manages to make the central character very human. Highly recommended!

Comments: I got this book and thought: Ok, cool, haven't read a vampire book in a while. However, Alexandra is not a vampire. She is the bone crunching, flesh eating Devil herself! (with heart). The story mostly focuses on a period of time in Alexandra's life when she prowls the streets of London looking for victims to tame her beast. Until one night when she loses control and eventually finds herself living a double life and employed to hunt killers for The King of England. She seems to find a balance, living with what she is and finding happiness with people who accept her and care for her. It touches slightly on her past, and skips forward quickly. I am hoping there will be more stories of Alexandra, how she came to be, and perhaps more stories of her assignments for the King. Fun & enjoyable read.

Comments: Despite the modernized language for the time era, this book is well written and has plenty of surprises at every turn of a page. Alexandra is a great protagonist with qualities fitting for the creature she is. Five stars :)

      • 4.0 out of 5 stars  "Fun Vampire Read"

      • Format: Paperback
Comments: I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book, and I was pleasantly surprised. What starts out as a day in the life of a vampire turns into the hunt for a monster, but it doesn't stop there. Through it all, we learn about the life (and un-life) of Alexandra, a no-nonsense vampire with a taste for human flesh. This tongue-in-cheek novel was a fun read, although the speech patterns and colloquialisms were more fitting in the modern day than 1700's London.
