CONQUER AS THEYCOME
"5 different guys from 5 distinctive musical backgrounds coming together to make one big musical mess"First impressions don’t lie!
Conquer As They Come feel like Atreyu and Bullet For My Valentine had a love child on a dark night and the result was this band hailing from Washington, MO. There is a sense of adventure with this band, this is where one can feel Rock and a dash of Metal collide. According to their Facebook page here, “Five different guys from five different musical backgrounds coming together to make one big musical mess. With the current music scene producing a variety of feel and sound, Conquer As They Come holds their flag in representation for what music is truly about; the daily realities of angst and elation, with a translation sandblasted by ear capturing breakthroughs cross-sectioned with infectious melodic revelries. Coming together in the summer of 2011, this faction grew out of the demise of an existing group, to then join with the other half who were looking for a chance to stake their claim on a stage. At present day, the formidable pulse and surge of an undaunted and true hard rock machine is in the making.”

In the alternative indie rock scene one basically makes their own rules and rocks the eyebrows off of the audience every time a band hits the stage and CATC will rock you. With their stellar line up of gifted and seasoned members, CATC will please the pickiest of indie music connoisseurs.
Lead vocalist Andrew VanDykehas an amazing voice paired with gutter growls that are far from cliché. His vocals roar clear, and one can sing along on the sides of the stage or join in the mosh pit and bare your soul to CATC music. When Andrew was asked what inspires him and where he sees the future of the band, Andrew replied,
“My greatest influence, the one that truly sticks out the most is the six choral instructors I had from third grade all the way through college. Those awesome people guided me through music. From foreign languages to vocal ranges, they pretty much taught me everything I know. Through the 12 years of choir and private voice lessons I’ve learned to control my voice at a whole new level. When it comes to bands and artist, Aaron Lewis has never let me down."
"From the early Staind albums to his newer country style, I never get tired of his natural voice. Our band has been together for over 4 years now, but I now feel we are truly coming into our own feel, our own sound.
We’ve made it extremely far from where we started, and there’s no way to go other than up. We are currently on number five, of the seven-song album, hopefully to be released by spring. Our goal is to create a sound that others can appreciate and use in their everyday life. We are tired of the mainstream pop, we want to bring back rock and roll!”

On guitar we have D.j Eberlin. As of September 4th, 2015, D.j is the second Rubicon Artist with MTD Kingston (another current Rubicon Artist is guitarist Patrick Scheel of CATC). In a statement from MTD Kingston Facebook page,
“D.j Eberlin as our newest Rubicon Artist! He came our way via Patrick Scheel and is also in the great band of Conquer As They Come! D.j has been rocking his guitar since he was a youngster. He has opened for national touring acts and plays tons of shows around the St. Louis metro area."
D.j Eberlinsays of his Rubicon...
‘This guitar has the playability and comfort of a guitar that costs double the money. I love this guitar!’ When I asked D.j about his influences he answered,‘I started playing at nine years old. Joined my first band at thirteen. I literally love all music in general. My influence would be like Avenged Sevenfold, Red, Breaking Benjamen, Metallica, Linkin Park, and the one and only George Strait.’ And now I directly quote, ‘and I would like to add that I'm just awesome in general.’” D.j has quite the sense of humor and is all around a very cool cat.

On bass we have Bobby Emily. Bobby plays with the intensity of Spartan, yet at the same time strumming his bass like it’s been in his hands since birth.
Some of Bobby’s influences are bands like "Trivium,""Sevendust," and "Five Finger Death Punch," to name a few. Bobby is definitely a Cardinals fan. When asked what he likes about CATC and what song he likes to play at the moment, he answered with,
__________________________________
“I’ve been playing bass for 20 years next march and I’ve been at it for a long time and I can say this group feels good. We go up there and love what we are doing and play the same show whether there is 5 or 5000. My favorite song we play I would have to say of what you can hear online at the moment .. Spine knife… The reason it’s one of those songs that is just in your face even in the chorus when it starts to let up a little bit it snaps back in your face again. I also just like rocking out to it, jumpin’ around head bangin’."
On drums we have Justin Edwards. Justin attacks with hyper brutal possession - like a passion of sorts that hides in the shadows and preys on each note with precision.
I had asked Justin what inspired him to play drums and where he too would like to see the band in the future, he answered,
“A little about me... I've been enamored with drums for as long as I can remember and finally taught myself how to play by simply air drumming to anything on the radio. I would make mix tapes of songs I knew I wanted to learn! Dave Grohl was a big inspiration in the beginning.
I had asked Justin what inspired him to play drums and where he too would like to see the band in the future, he answered,
It was all about the raw energy and emotion that he produced, and I was certainly drawn to that (as well as the Tama drumsets that he would destroy -- which is why I have yet to use anything besides Tama). That served as a gateway as I began observing the styles of Abe Cunningham, Morgan Rose, Vinnie Paul and Igor Cavalera. They are meant to be on that set, that stage, and they prove it! So many other inspirations to name as I am a fan of all types of music, but they helped light that fire for me. It's because of those many inspirations that I am always urging us to explore different music arrangements and sound, and to not fall into a cookie cutter approach to writing. My wish as we move forward is to keep that evolutionary process going, and always be open to new ideas that can thwart any sense of predictability.”
Now last but not least (trust me!) is CATC’s newest guitar player Patrick Scheel. Patrick can be seen in the September 2015 edition of Premier Guitar magazine playing a Rubicon 22-Fret Guitar. Patrick abandons conventional playing and shows his own personal “reverse shocker” technique, a must-see at live shows. Patrick has an intensity and is technically proficient in playing Rock, Metal, Country, and really anything in-between. Patrick is a phenomenal addition to Conquer As They Come.
I asked Patrick on how he became familiar with CATC and how he became a member and he replied,
“The first time I ever witnessed D.j playing guitar was during a talent show at our hometown middle school gymnasium in Owensville, Missouri! I was in the sixth grade and whether D.j likes it or not, he helped inspire me to start taking guitar seriously! Fast forward to 2007, I've started picking up the guitar pretty well by this point. So I started my own band. I played guitar in Midnight Hour for approximately three years before being forced to move to vocals after our current singer at the time quit. Was prolly ‘bout a year later I ran into D.j at a Casey's gas station in Owensville. After a brief catching up we started talking about music. He told me he was in a band called Conquer As They Come. Before that conversation was over, each of us agreed that we needed to get Midnight and Conquer on the same bill for a few shows. A few months pass and we play our first shows together. Conquer actually played Midnight’s second CD release party!"

“Fast-forward another year or so and I part ways with Midnight Hour. While on hiatus trying to regain focus and concentrating on running my small disc jockey business, I run into D.j during a wedding reception that I was DeeJay'ing. He asked me what I had been up to musically. I told him I was in the beginning of starting a new project. At that time I didn't really know what was going to happen with it. D.j offered a me chance to jam some time and play around with the new tunes I was working with. After a few jam sessions I was approached by D.j He told me he had talked to Justin, Conquer’s drummer, and they agreed Conquer could use that extra guitar to fill in the missing pieces. So, long story short, I was offered a spot playing guitar. It didn't take much convincing me to join. I knew Conquer was a solid group and produced good music so I accepted the offer! Ever since I have been learning their set list. D.j and I have been shooting riffs back and forth trying to find the newest sound. I hope to bring at least a solid rhythm guitar to the group and look forward to sharing ideas with everyone in the group.”

You can find Conquer As They Come songs on Reverbnation. Currently, they have four songs available for download: “Sounding Good Guy”, “Spine Knife”, “Dead Lullaby”, and “Collecting Strays”. All these songs have a separate soul and heart-beat. They rock hard and this is not your typical bullshit cookie-cutter Rock. They have put blood, sweat, tears and probably other bodily fluids in their work. They know how to communicate with their audience and one will never have a stale moment. A MUST see live band!!

LIPSTICK AND ABSINTHE
"I like to be the ghost that haunts your soul in life and in death. Sitting silently, watching as I tear your inner fiber to shreds as I apply lipstick and sip absinthe. I’ve always had vivid dreams and a tortured heart- I know dark fantasy & desire & horror are in my blood. Welcome to my second compilation."– Ladyaslan
DIABOLIQUE NEWS:September 24, 2015
Since the release of her debut book, “Victorian Days and Punk Rock Nights,” Ladyaslan has gained a strong following of kindred spirits or “baby bats” as she fondly calls them. In her latest book, “Lipstick and Absinthe” (published by Xlibris), she once again offers a window into her world, a world suffused in darkness and decadence. “Lipstick and Absinthe” is a collection of original gothic poetry, short stories and horror erotica. Ladyaslan writes in her signature moody, dark and irresistible flair, pulling readers deep into her realm. Like a moth to a flame, they will be drawn to a world that teeters delicately on the cusp of peril and pleasure, danger and desire.
“My book is not your typical indie read,”the author says. “It was made with blood, sweat and tears. It is the scenic route to what gothic poetry used to be.” Ladyaslan has received praise from notable personalities.
Here are some reviews of her writing style and work:
“Ladyaslan strikes a chord with depth and darkness in this book. I have it on my coffee table, and my guests inevitably pick it up and start reading. The book has initiated some of the most interesting conversations. Also a great bedtime read.”- Jeff Scheel, lead singer of Gravity Kills
“Extremely amazing and talented writer. I am definitely a huge fan, which inspired my instrumental piece called ‘Additions to Anger with Stifff Kitties!’” - Dianne Meinke, singer/songwriter
